June Journeys

This month has been great work in drama as we started our back stage practices, it is always so much fun hiding in the dark and popping out on my cue. I have been learning my lines and my frozen song. I am so excited to try on costumes and show off my character.

I enjoyed going and doing an Autumn hunt at the opshops, looking for red and orange colours to make a pumpkin. There were lots of fun things to sort through on those racks until we found the right one.

I also enjoyed going out and going resource shopping to buy a new hot glue gun. We found a really cool cordless one that I was able to try because it is also heat resistant. It was great to try new technology and hopefully this one stays tidier.

I have really enjoyed helping set up for the ball this month and seeing the decorations come together and with all the fabric and stars.

There is so much glitter in the crafts we have been making! The ball was on a Thursday and so it was great to be able to come in on a cheeky day off and hide amongst the crowd wearing my suit and my mask. The music and the lights were loads of fun, the professional DJ played some awesome dancing songs.

I really enjoyed getting to do a slow dance with my friends as well. It was loads of fun and then just like that I was helping take the decorations back down again ready for more special days next month.

We have been following the FIFA world cup this month, my team is Ghana and I am excited to see them play. I enjoy when we can put it on in the sensory room on the big screen. The crowds there get so excited. It is an awesome atmosphere.

I am really excited by the production and the fun days we have coming up in July!

May Update

May has been a fun month with lots of fun creativity in acting and roleplay as we pretended to be different animals. It was great fun acting out a frog and jumping along the floor. Then I pretended to be the rock star Michela Jackson, using the moon walk to share with my friends who I was pretending to be.

I really enjoy Drama at Detour theatre, we have been doing lots of pretending and imagination too. I enjoy the animals we create, but it is so much fun when we grab a hat and create the character that would be wearing it. I love the crowns and being royalty, practicing my royal wave like the Queen. My favorite game in drama is the party game when you have to bring a gift for the person and hope they like it, it always gets me thinking.

I am also enjoying being Princess Elsa at the slumber party and practicing my lines for that. I am excited to see what costume I might get to wear next month.

Music is lots of fun, and I have enjoyed learning some sign language with the song, representing the words in Sweet Caroline.

I have awesome outings gathering lots of cool bits and pieces from the park. While it is autumn we have so many different leaves and seeds just lying around that we can utilize different art at the centre. The next project will be seeing what we can create with clay. I really enjoyed exploring it and feeling it warm up in my hands so I could make snails and different leaf shapes with it.

I am really excited with what June is going to bring.

Meet the maker

Today I was lucky to watch Sarah and Kuda dance and sing for their meet the maker show and I enjoyed every moment. I also got to see all their accomplishments and art work. - TR
